H&M X Balmain

Since seeing the tease of this new collection in May, I've been counting down the days to the 5th of November to finally get my hands on the new collection co-designed by Olivier Routsteing. It juxtaposes sophistication and elegance, by creating solid, structured looks paired with HUGE jewellry and symmetric patterns. The collaboration was announced in hollywood style when Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn and Gigi Hadid wore pieces from the collection to the American Billboard Awards back in May. The intricate detail against the structured jackets definitely highlights the women of the 21st century - something I love! This collection was one of the most highly anticipated this season, with people going more than crazy when doors opened in selected stores to get their hands on anything. With a continuously trending hashtag on twitter for months, I think it is safe to say that this collection definitely dropped with a bang.

Bravo to the truly loveable Olivier Rousteing, at just 29 years old, becoming the creative director of Balmain and continuously succeeding throughout the fashion industry. His eye for detail and elegance shines through his work and I have no doubt that he will carry on thriving in this industry, and to carry on making Balmain what it is today.

Each piece has its own personality, style and cut.  Experimenting with texture, shape and line, Rousteing has definitely succeeded in designing a collection that all woman feel sexy but sophisticated in. His use of geometry is a continuos element in many of his collections, something that I believe is a reflection of fashion in this time. Whilst many collections focus on the past of fashion, recreating old trends and remodelling them, Rousteing is everlastingly focusing forward, and making his own past to look back and remodel.  His distinct style will be one to remember for many years.
